The Serra do Cipó National Park, in the state of Minas Gerais, is part of the Espinhaço mountains, central Brazil in the Cerrado biome.
The characteristic rupestrian fields are home of some spectacular endemic birds like the Cipó Canastero (Asthenes luizae) and the Cipo Cinclodes (Cinclodes espinhacensis) and one of the most diverse floras on the planet with a high degree of endemism, with more than 1,700 species recorded.
These rupestrian fields were delimited into five distinct habitats: rock outcrop, quartz gravel fields, sandy bogs, peat bogs and the Cerrado.
