Overview

Discover the best of the Northern Pantanal!

The Pantanal is the largest wetland in the world, here it's easy to observe wildlife especially during the dry season when the animals concentrate in the waterholes and along the rivers. In this period, the jaguars patrol the river banks, where they find preys like caimans and capybaras. The chances to spot jaguar and other wildlife are very high in thed dry season.

The first days we will explore the region of the northern Transpantaneira looking for tapirs, anteaters, deer, ocelots, coatis, caimans, hyacinth macaws, toucans and many more animals.
Finally, we will move to Porto Jofre, where we will explore the "Encontro das Aguas State Park" by our speedboats. This is the area with the highest concentration of jaguars in the world, the Cuiabá River, the Três Irmãos River and other narrow channels are the perfect habitat where find jaguars, giant otters and many other animals.

  • DAY1

    CuiabáPouso Alegre lodge

    Arrival at Cuiabá airport in the morning around 10:00/11:00am, meet your guide, lunch in a typical restaurant and drive to the town Poconé for about one and a half hour, where we will take the Transpantaneira road and drive up to the Pousada Pouso Alegre. Photography along the way and around the lodge can produce very good pictures of savanna hawk, buff-naked ibis, campo flickr, parrots, crab-eating fox, caimans, toucans, capybaras and many more.

  • DAY2

    Pouso Alegre Lodge

    Early morning walking around the lodge to appreciate a wonderful sunrise and observe lot of bird species till breakfast time. After breakfast car safari in a very beautiful envirnment where you can observe Jabiru storks, herons, roseate spoonbill, kingfishers, hawks and many other bird species, caimans, capybaras, monkeys and more.
    In the afternoon a walking and car safari looking for hyacinth macaws, toucans and other birds, monkeys, rodents and other mammals. After dinner night safari in search of mammals and night birds, such as tapir, anteaters, ocelot, crab-eating fox, crab-eating raccoon, potoo, owls and more.

  • DAY3

    Pouso AlegrePorto Jofre

    Early morning photography, breakfast and check-out. We drive to Porto Jofre on the Transpantaneira road and make stops in case of wildlife sightighs. Accommodation, dinner and overnight at Porto Jofre lodge / houseboat. (B-L-D)

  • DAY4

    Porto Jofre

    Full day boat safari in a very beautiful environment in the rivers Cuiabá, Tres Irmaos, Piquiri. This is the "Encontro das Aguas State Park" the area with the highest concentration of jaguars in the world! While searching for wild jaguars we can spot also giant river otters, caimans, capybara and lot of birds! At the end of the day we return to the lodge / houseboat, dinner and overnight. (B-L-D)

  • DAY5

    Porto Jofre

    Today we explore again the Cuiabá river and tributaries in search of wild jaguars. (B-L-D)

  • DAY6

    Porto JofreCuiaba

    Today we transfer back to Cuiabá making stops to photograph wildlife and for lunch. Drop off to the airport or to your hotel in Cuiabá. (B-L)
